Where you are: Help Section

How Is the Screen Arranged?

Your screen is divided into four sections: (1) View Pane, (2) Action Pane, (3) Navigation Pane, and (4) your Browser (at the top).

    1.  View Pane. The main screen contains the stuff you read. Right now, you're reading in the View Pane.

    2.  Action Pane. Look to your left. There's the Action Pane. Above the Action Pane is the Navigation Pane. Click a button on the Navigation Pane to change what appears in the Action Pane: Contents and Index.

Contents. When you click Contents, you'll see little blue-colored books. (If they don't appear, use the left-right scroll bar at the bottom of the Action Pane window; scroll left.) These are the Main Topics. Click the book and it opens. Then you'll see the additional Topics in each book, shown by little “?” icons. You can click one and go there.

Index. Click Index and you can search the GrammaRight Section for Topics or Keywords, which we've sprinkled throughout to help you find the answers to your questions.

In the Sections that act like dictionaries (Problem Words and Frequently Misspelled Words), you simply click Index and begin typing the word you seek. The index entries will immediately scroll. Look around, find the word you want, and click it.

In the Sections that act more like books (Grammar & Writing Guide, Grammatical Mistakes, and Rules on Punctuation), we've imbedded Keywords to help you find answers to questions. For example, we've imbedded the Keyword Elephant in the Topic you're now reading.

Try It. Click GrammaRight Home Page in the Contents to return to the Home Page. Then click Index and type Elephant. Then click the word Elephant. You'll return to this Topic. Neat, huh?

Hide. Closes the Action Pane. Then if you click Contents or Index, the Action Pane opens again.

    3.  Navigation Pane. In the Navigation Pane, you can click the following to perform the function indicated:

Contents. The Contents will open and display where you are in the Contents. The Topic you’re in will appear in bold.

Index. The Index will open. Type a word in the “Look for” box. Choose an index entry. Click it and you’ll go to that Topic.

Previous GrammaRight Topic. Back up one Topic.

Next GrammaRight Topic. Go forward one Topic.

Print Current Topic. Print the current Topic.

Home Page. Click Contents. At the top, the first Topic listed is the Home Page of the GrammaRight Section you’re using. Click it to return to that Section’s Home Page.

On the Home Pages of the Grammar & Writing Guide, the Grammatical Mistakes Section, and the Rules on Punctuation Section, you'll find complete Tables of Contents with clickable links.

    4.  Your Browser’s Pane. GrammaRight runs on your browser. At the top of your screen, you’ll see your browser’s commands and features. Use your browser’s “Left Arrow” to go “Back” and your browser’s “Right Arrow” to go “Forward.”

Browser’s Left Arrow. Retrace your steps in the current session of using a particular Section of GrammaRight.

Browser’s Right Arrow. After you click your browser’s Back Arrow (left arrow), you can click the Forward Arrow (right arrow) to go back to where you were.
