From a Swedish Reader on Amazon.com

For many years, I have been searching for a well-written and well-structured book on English grammar, but only in vain. None of them met my expectations. Until now! Good's book is not only well written, it is also simple, lucid, and comprehensive....

This is truly an excellent book. No other book on the market is nearly as good as this one. I strongly recommend it to all people who want to improve their grammatical skills.

Creative Writing

Once you have familiarized yourself with the basic knowledge and principles underpinning the rules of English grammar, it is essential that you try to experience all the other magical things that this language has to offer its user. Try your hand at a bit of Creative Writing to experiment with the English language and be amazed at the different concepts, situations, and interesting twists your particular use of a word rewards you with. This exercise will enlighten you to the power of language in a much more interesting and fun way so that you don't have to learn each lesson as if it were, well, a lesson.

Creative Writing provides an enjoyable way to express oneself and one's feelings, emotions, thoughts, and ideas. Some people find Creative Writing a bit intimidating, but it shouldn't be because it is simply an expression of yourself. Play around with some writing just for your own self and don't plan on showing it to anybody. This will ensure that you have the freedom and self-confidence you will need in order to achieve a relaxed involvement with your creative-writing piece. Once this relaxed relationship is achieved, you will be able to manipulate words and grammar in order to achieve interesting results.

The best, and most simple, creative-writing exercise you can undertake is to think of a story you would like to tell. This story should be something that happened to you or someone you know, and you should have access to all of the details of the event. This story doesn't have to be a big event: It can be something simple like losing a tooth, getting a new pet, or having a birthday party. It is important that you think about the way you felt at the time, the sounds and the smells that were around you, and the things that you could see. Start off by giving your story a title and then start relating the events to someone who may or may not read this story later on.

Do not forget that nobody else knows what you are thinking, so it is important for you to include all the details of the event in question in your piece of creative writing. This will ensure that there is no confusion when a reader picks up your account of the event. Of course, you don't actually have to give the piece to anyone to read because it is all an exercise for your own self-development of your capacity to use your new skill. But it may be helpful to give it to others to read so that they may suggest points of constructive criticism.

Whether you are a using English as your second language for the first time, or have been using it as your first language for many years, there is nothing more exciting and entertaining than sitting down to do a little creative writing. It is a great way to learn how to use the rules and regulations of English Grammar correctly, and to experiment with the tools that you already have at your disposal.
