A part of speech which demonstrates a feeling or emotion of the writer is called interjection.


Eww! This chicken is uncooked.

Eww in the above example is the example of interjection as it depicts emotion of dislike or disgust.

Interjections may stand alone or placed before or after a sentence. An interjection may or may not be followed by an exclamation point.


Alas! We lost the match.

The above interjection alas depicts the emotion of loss or distress.

Some other interjections include ahh, boo, eh, hmm, jeez, phew, oops, yahoo shoot, grrr etc.
