The English grammar rules have exceptions everywhere, and then rules don't apply (as if politicians) where they absolutely ought to. No sound reason exists for most of these nuances. I feel like lawyers must've gotten their hands on making the rules to our grammar.

Another gripe I have is this: why the use of homonyms, when so many alternatives and letter combinations exist? Why the same word used for completely different things? Is the reason behind this one of insidious nature?

Example: "seem" or "seam" ... one could have just as easily been "leam" or "sheam" or even "dulox" for that matter.

Surely, I am not alone in the frustration of seeing a consistent show of misuse of two, to and too; or there, their and they're; even with the simplest of methods for differentiating proper usage, they are abused again and again. Maddening!
