Immigrate: to come into a country.

noun

Emigration: the process of leaving a country.

Emigrant: the person who leaves.

Immigration: process of coming into a country.

Immigrant: the person who comes in.

Note: Use this trick. emigrate = exit; immigrate = come in.

One of the most important issues in this year's presidential campaign is an issue that most leading contenders have been reluctant to discuss in a serious way: illegal immigration.
