We have eight parts of speech in the English language: (1) nouns, (2) verbs, (3) adjectives, (4) adverbs, (5) pronouns, (6) conjunctions, (7) prepositions, and (8) interjections. Every word you use in speech or writing falls into just one of these eight categories.

To become an accomplished writer, you must know all about these eight parts of speech. Each is discussed thoroughly in the section on Parts of Speech on Grammar.com:
